Several APTCP members attended the annual APT Conference in Quebec City, Canada this past fall. The conference was held at the historic landmark Hotel Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. Our members enjoyed excellent Paper Sessions, Field Sessions, Workshops and comradery with fellow preservationists from around the world!
Some of our members attended a great Workshop titled: Documentation Data - The Platform for Condition Analysis and the Basis for Preservation Project Planning. The attendees learned of successful rehabilitation techniques using latest technologies with demonstrations of the current tools being used for survey and NDI (Non-Destructive Investigation). The tools of MBS (Measured Building Survey) and NDI form the foundation for evaluation and development of important existing structures.
Several members also attended The National Slate Association tour of the Glendyne Inc. Slate Quarry. The tour featured the quarry and production facilities of Glendyne Inc., a major North American producer of roofing, structural, landscaping and industrial mineral slate products.
Please join us for dinner and drinks at the APT Quebec City conference on Sunday, October 26th at L’Atelier – Tartares & Cocktails, located on one of the city’s oldest streets now home to trendy cafes, clubs and restaurants.

In a city where CONVERGENCE is as much a part of modern life as it is deeply ingrained in the history and culture, APT Kansas City 2015 explored the interface of diverse technologies and how this evolves the modern practice of heritage conservation.
