This event is in the past.
Join your fellow Association for Preservation Technology - Central Plains members and friends for tours highlighting the different methods of salvage, preservation, and the exhibition of architectural artifacts in St. Louis museums. The first part of the day will feature a stop at the National Building Arts Center (NBAC) to learn about the recovery and conservation of salvaged architectural fragments and to tour the foundry buildings on campus, currently under restoration. During the second half of the day, we will tour the architectural artifacts collection at the City Museum and learn about the challenges of installing large-scale architectural fragments from famously demolished structures, such as the Chicago Stock Exchange.
After the tour, there will be a happy hour at the Cabin Inn, a salvaged 19th century log cabin on the first floor of the City Museum. Guests are welcome to spend the rest of the evening exploring the City Museum.
For this event, we will be extending our member rate to current members of Missouri Preservation and the Landmarks Association of St. Louis. Proof of current membership required with registration.
